In The Company of None: The West is calling me. At the tender age of 49, I set off on a 6 month solo road trip adventure via the coastal route: Destination Oregon. After selling the family home in Groton, MA, I embark on a once in a life time journey. I’ve traveled many times on my own, never on a road trip that lasted more than 5 hours. My two younger sisters have driven cross-country alone, so why can’t I?
Traveling is in our family blood. Escaping from the 1956 Hungarian Revolution my father came to the US with only his dignity, even his clothes were borrowed. My younger sisters traveled around Europe and the US by themselves and my oldest sister lives abroad. I’ve been called a free spirit, Bohemian, gypsy girl. Those names I don’t mind a bit, just don’t label me I’m not a can of soup.
To see the US of A from the road is simply amazing. This is a journey of self discovery not only for myself but of this great country I call home. I’ve been through 30 states and two international countries. I’ve met interesting people, who are now my friends, stayed in unique properties and enjoyed the natural scenery. I would like to share with you through words and pictures my adventures. I hope you enjoy the trip as much as I have.
