Avenue of Giants, Northern California 6 Month Solo Road Trip

In the Forest of Giants

In the Forest of Giants

It’s been two months since I started my 6 month solo road trip around the coastal route of the USA. I’ve been through 18 states and the Bahamas so far on my journey. I’ve traveled up the Pacific Coast Highway heading for Oregon. One of my last stops before crossing the border is the Redwood Forest. I hear the children’s song by Woody Guthrie “This Land is Your Land” resonating in my head.

‘This land is your land. This land is my land
From California to the New York island;
From the red wood forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and Me.”

As a child I remember watching 8mm movies of my parents driving through the Chandelier Tree in Leggett, CA. Since then, I’ve always wanted to see the majestic Redwoods in northern California who stand tall and proud unwavering in age.

As I meander through the 31 mile scenic Avenue of the Giants I’m in awe. I feel tiny among the gentle giants.

About inthecompanyofnone

Residential Designer by Trade who also blogs about various topics. Just came back from a 6 month solo road trip which took me through 30 states and two international countries. Seeing the USA by road is amazing. It's so diverse in natural beauty and climate. Traveling solo allows me the freedom to go where and where I want without compromise. It's a sense of accomplishment to be able to travel in the company of none.

  1. Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective.
    A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appearance.
    I must say you’ve done a superb job with this. Additionally, the blog loads
    extremely fast for me on Firefox. Excellent Blog! http://bing.co.uk
